Ha:mo, Toyota’s vision beyond public transport turned into reality.

The density of public transport network is rarely uniform. You often find low density area In city centres and the density always reduce on the outskirt. Increasing the density of the public transport network to a uniform distribution is not cost effective so Toyota’s vision is to provide a flexible transport to cover all these areas in complement to the traditional public transport network made of bus and tram line.

In France there is a well-known solution in the form of shared bicycle but it is not so comfortable when the weather condition are not good and it is not adapted for some populations (pregnancy, elderly, …).

Toyota’s solution is Ha:mo or harmonise mobility micro electro vehicles in the form of electric scooter (4 or 3 wheels) capable of transporting 2 passengers in comfort within the city. These electric vehicles are located at recharge stations across the city and can be rented at will after a one time registration. The exciting thing is that Toyota has turned its vision into a reality. After an initial pilot project in Japan to validate all the component of the solution (vehicle/recharge station/software platform) Grenoble in France became the first public roll out with 70 vehicles over 24 stations (with a plan to expand to 120).

We are curently testing it for you. Checking on the user experience and acceptance, detailling the infrastructure in place and interviewing the stake holders.
